TORCH stands for toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex, and HIV, but other newborn infections may also fall under this umbrella term. A group of infectious diseases known collectively as TORCH may affect pregnant women and possibly be transmitted to the fetus, resulting in birth defects, growth delays, neurological issues, or miscarriage.
