A laboratory test called sperm analysis is used to evaluate male fertility. The inability to conceive after a year of unprotected sexual activity is referred to as infertility. Infertility affects 15% of all couples who are of reproductive age. A thorough physical examination, a detailed medical and sexual history, and semen analyses are used to determine whether a man is infertile. About half of all cases of infertility and 30% of cases in general have the male factor as a contributing factor.
